About Me
BIO
Throughout my career spanning over 50 years in music, I have specialized in piano and keyboards, beginning with formal music education and culminating as a music major at Western Michigan University’s distinguished music program. My dedication to innovation has led me to develop advanced technologies that deliver ultra-realistic instrument sounds for live performances. My musical journey began at age 10 with piano, and I expanded my expertise to alto saxophone during my junior and high school years.
In the mid to late 1980s, I joined a band in Tampa, Florida, formed by ex-Outlaws member Steve Grisham and ex-Greg Allman Brothers member Gregg Voorhees, performing original southern rock/pop music as part of Steve Grisham and the Generators. Following successful tours and a publishing deal with Milsap Publishing, I transitioned to touring the classic rock market, covering Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and neighboring states. During that time also having played some of the largest circuit venues, sharing the stage opening for The Fixx, Foghat, Badfinger, Blue Oyster Cult, Roy Buchanan, to name a few.
After taking a break in the early 1990s to focus on family and build a corporate career, I achieved both undergraduate and master’s (MBA) degrees from the University of Notre Dame. My business career was primarily with Microsoft, where I remained until my retirement in 2014, after which I dedicated myself fully to music.
In 2006 we relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was active in the Southeast Wisconsin music scene, performing with various cover bands, including the renowned Tim Castle and Young Southern, which featured Nashville A-List recording legend Dale Sellers - who was also good friends with Elvis' original band members DJ Fontana, Scotty Moore, and Bill Black.
In 2014, I joined the Elvis Tribute scene and continue to collaborate with other bands and artists within the Tribute industry. My responsibilities in the tribute industry encompass piano and electronic replication of diverse sounds, including horns, synthesizers, special effects, and sequencing. I utilize state-of-the-art equipment and computer sample-based technologies to create highly realistic sound experiences.
I am also pursuing my true musical passion — barrelhouse boogie woogie and blues piano, as well as ragtime. Tom and the Hot Notes is a show that highlights these genres, offering a historical perspective and performing material from the golden era of boogie piano, featuring works from the 1930s–1940s by Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, Meade “Lux” Lewis, Jimmy Yancey, and contemporary artists such as Axel Zwingenberger, alongside my own modern interpretations. The show will also include ragtime classics, primarily those of Scott Joplin. My barrelhouse boogie and blues review show is scheduled for late 2018.
